Amazon listing image requirements (and how to hit them every time)

Amazon's main-image rules are strict and enforced: pure white background, 85% frame fill, no text or props. Get them wrong and your listing gets suppressed. Here's the checklist and a faster way to comply.

Amazon listing image requirements (and how to hit them every time)

Amazon is unusually strict about the main product image, and it actively suppresses listings that break the rules. Unlike most channels, the main image isn't a place for creativity — it's a compliance checkbox. Get it right once and you can spend your effort on the secondary images, where scenes and lifestyle shots are allowed to do the selling.

Main image requirements checklist

  • Pure white background (RGB 255,255,255) — not off-white, not light gray.
  • The product fills about 85% of the frame.
  • No text, logos, watermarks, badges, or added props on the main image.
  • Longest side at least 1600 px so zoom-on-hover activates; 1000 px is the bare minimum.
  • The product is the actual item for sale, fully in frame, professionally lit.

Secondary images are where you actually sell

Once the white main image is compliant, the remaining slots are yours: lifestyle scenes, the product in use, scale references, and detail close-ups. This is where a styled scene earns its keep — it's the part of the gallery shoppers actually linger on before buying.

Compliant on the main image, persuasive on the rest — that's a listing that ranks and converts.

Jlily covers both ends from one upload: a clean pure-white main image that meets Amazon's rules, plus lifestyle scenes for the secondary slots — with your label, color, and shape kept exactly as they are. No reshoot to satisfy compliance and no separate session for the lifestyle gallery.
